Went to Benson Wednesday. The Mrs. stayed home to finish her planting. So I got out early and was on the water at 7:45. Water was turbid, 72 degrees and a S wind had the current running pretty strongly. The fog hadn't burned off yet so fished a buzzbait for an hour...0. Watched a full sized Tugboat push a barge north. Swithed to a spinnerbait after the sun came out, started to get a few LM and a SM. Points with current, grass or rock. Fry is everywhere on the main lake. Poked around in a couple of back waters where the water was cleaner but except for a nice pickerel and seeing a big pike miss the spinnerbait twice it was pretty dead off the main lake, didn't even see the Gar. But did see the Gar archers and they said they weren't seeing the Gar either. Spent most of the rest of the day trying to force a frog bite. Too early I think but it was fun. Lots of grass canopy but it was mostly void of bait. Went 2 fer 4 on LM with the frog and had a heavy mystery fish (never saw it) come unbuttoned in the 'nuts. Had a few other pops, pickerel etc. Quit at 4:30, 11 LM, 1 SM and 1 pickerel. Cranked up a decent LM that was dining on a large alewife.

Bob, I went to Dick's in Albany on your advice ( ;D). They didn't have a single Senko in a light color. I don't think they were sold out either, they just don't carry them. Hmmm. I was looking for the 6" version......thinking alewife.

Brian, Always have had to buy the chartreuse on line. Clear water & sunny day the smallies eat them up. Have caught LM on them too. I don't fish the 6" very often, but have yet to catch a fish on them, but don't have any in chartreuse. Bob
