Good -- Started out this morning with 3 smallies about 2 lbs -- nice fish. Bad -- the gear box that turns my trolling motor left or right came apart into 2 pieces. That pretty much ended the fishing. I tried a couple of drifts without it but it is not the same. I got home and put it back together and it appears to be toast. It will not turn at all Any one know of a motor guide service location? the web is not too helpful.

If it's a Minkota the dealer service rep is in Ferrisburg.

I had to ship a Motor Guide to Virginia for warranty service several years ago....on my dime.

Ericcson's in Ferrisberg is who fixed my Minn Kota after it burned up on the CT River. They also mentioned Motor Guide.

I went through it all again and found the electric circuit had tripped on overload. Apparently there are 2 overloads because the prop still worked when it didn't turn. I have tripped the prop overload in heavy weeds and I don't remember if it would turn or if I even tried to turn with the prop tripped out. Yesterday I figured if the prop went the circuit was good -- wrong! Anyway I just got back from an on-the-water test at Dunmore. Works great ;D Caught a smallie and a rock bass during the test. All of the screws now have a couple of drops of blue Loctite, the gears have a little new grease and hopefully I won't have the gearbox issue again Thanks for the feedback guys. I will keep Erickson's in mind and have bookmarked trolling motor doctor. I sure didn't want to ship the motor to some out of state shop. Good to go!! George
