These crappies from the Connecticut River and they lived up to their reputation! Checked the grass after the rain we had yesterday afternoon and determined it was just too wet to mow. Totally disappointed that I could not mow I went inside and did the only thing a fisherman should do, grabbed my ultralight pole and headed out to fish bluegill. Seemed like there was alot of guys disappointed they could not mow and my bluegill spot was occupied. Had an idea I always wanted to try out and went to a spot looking for post spawn crappie. Did not take long and had a 12 and 15/16" crappie. I just am not meant to catch an MA angler crappie I guess. With its mouth open it was over 13" (like a bunch of others this year) closed just a bit shy. During the evening had 7 bass on, landed two, best being about 3 +/- and one nice walleye that cut me off. Kept the five best crappie out of seven. Got all the fish on a 1" white tube or a 1" chart. Bassassasin minnow with a 1/6 oz. head, 4 lb. line on a 5' Eagle Claw Rod that was probably one of the last ones made in the USA.

Well, I am only second generation. My grandfather came down from Canada. All four of my grandparents were French-Canadian. No Long Islander here

These crappies from the Connecticut River and they lived up to their reputation! Looks tasty, Roy! I wish they were as easy to target in Champlain ... at least for me. I love eating crappie! Brock - that's probably why your predecessors left Canada. They were "kicked" out for not liking to eat fish. That's just un-Canadian

If he came from Long Island, he'd definitely be a fish eater. Salt water but still fish!
