New member heading up to one of my favorite spots in Northern L. Champlain next week from June 2-9th. We'll be staying at Henry's Cottages on the Alburg Passage...grey 17' Lund Mr. Pike. I found this site last week and I just wanted to thank the board members for the entertaining and informative posts. If you're in the neighborhood or see us on the water, just shout, "Hey Gator!". That's me, Keith, and the other less good looking guys will be Bill and Steve...I run a boat, Nothing but Net, on L. Ontario and we're all heavily involved in the Lake Ontario United board as well as the fishery itself.
I know that it's a strange year and so any tips on where we are in the cycle or which general areas have been more productive would be greatly appreciated, but even more so would stoke the fires of anticipation; please, feel free to e-mail me. The week prior to a trip takes forever to pass and the odd bit of information helps it to go a little faster.
I'll be sure to post pics and reports as we get on the water. Tight lines!

Welcome to the board, Keith - thanks for joining. I should be able to give you the low down early next week on what the conditions are at the north end. I'm located at the south end of the lake, so I haven't been out up north myself yet. There are some other guys on here who live up that way that might chime in like RVQ. Good luck on your trip!

Not as much as I look forward to posting it! This week is all about prepping the boat, changing out line, organizing baits, and generally trying to keep as busy as possible so as not to go nuts. Oh, and maybe get some work done, too I have to figure out if henry's has wifi, and, if not where's the closest hotspot.

The VT Visitors Center on Rte 2 in Alburgh has Wi-Fi. They are on the right just after you go through the center of Alburgh heading toward NY.
The Alburgh passage should be good this time of year. Check out the Southeast end of Hog Island and the Alburgh shoreline from Mud Point up to Windmill Point. There are lots of places near where you will be staying, but definitely check out these three.
Scout with a fast moving bait (chatterbait, crank, spinner bait, fluke) and go to plastics when you find them (Senko, C-rig, drop shot).
Goodluck and have fun.

Surprisingly, I found out today that Henry's does have WiFi run off a DSL connection. Bonus!
I also picked up a really cool app for my iPad using the new Navionics software to download a 2' contour map of the area. I have to use a Bluetooth GPS receiver since I don't have the 3G iPad, but what it will allow me to do is have a 10" full color GPS at the front of the boat. This is great, because even though my console GPS has a great map and whatnot, my graph at the front of the boat isn't hooked up to GPS, and it's a pain to have to go back and forth from the trolling motor to the console when I'm on some of those little humps and need to confirm positioning. Yes, I've gone over to the dark side...I love tech. Unfortunately, it's like handing a hammer to a 5 year old. Don't make him a carpenter, and something's likely to get broke. Still, fun stuff.
