The crappie are once again biting after a bit of a lull after the unusual warm weather in March and the cold snap that followed. This time its feeding and spawning going on. Did not see any nests, but the fish are separated with males shallower where they will soon bed and the females a bit deeper but nearby. Water temp was 55-58 degrees, probably warmer in a more protected cove and there they may indeed be on beds. We started out just wanting a half dozen or so for a meal but soon had that so I started looking for a Master Angler fish. Thought we each had one several times but they were 12.5". Threw the big females back and kept 10 fish, 8 were males and two were smaller females that did not have much roe. Have time tomorrow and Wednesday to try for a VMA crappie, then gotta get caught up around the house. Will try Hunts Meadows next. Today we fished Hinsdale NH. The "Crappie Queen". She has knack for crappie. I have a knack for filleting

That's good info on crappies. Thanks for sharing. Your welcome. FYI the spawn is on everywhere. Have not seen any crappie on beds but the males are in 2-3 f.o.w. and black as can be, and the females are not far away. The girls still had eggs tonight. Got 4 over 12" 2 over 12.5" none over 13" Fished for about an hour late in the day. FIshed the Meadows tonight.
