I Got tennis elbow at same time having problems with hands and I think it had to do with throwing cranks too. Elbow hurt like hell. I feel your pain. My elbows have just now started to feel "nomal" again since the end of fishing season. I'm sure a lot of my issues derive from trying to cast crankbaits as far as possible. Crankbaits work best on a long cast, elbows work best on a pitch .

I think a lot of the tennis elbow comes from how you are holding your fishing rod when cranking a bait with a lot of resistance. I was compensating for sore hands before surgery on my hands putting pressure on my elbow. Took 2-3 Cortisone shots in each elbow (that's no fun either) to cure it. If I start to feel that familiar twang now I change positions immediately. At the Bass University I went too years ago (different name then) Mark Fritts showed a way to lean pole against boat or foot to take on weight of lure but I could never master the technique. Wasn't coordinated enough.

Went to the Dick's in Rutland tonight before our club meeting To say their selection was less than stellar would be a minor understatement I did get 3 KVD 2.5 and used the rest of my gift card to get my second oldest boy a baitcasting combo that was reduced to $29.98. I am sure it will not stand up too much abuse, but for how much he will use it and to learn on it should be perfect. He wasn't all that excited, but did like the fact he did not have to borrow his little brother's rod any more. Looking forward to my annual trip to Bass Pro Shops when their spring sale starts. Going to have to save up for it this year though, I did not get any BPS gift cards this year. I guess I will have to be a better boy next year. Which Bass Pro Shop? We go to the Foxboro store for the Spring Fishing Classic. It makes for a nice day. Both my boys did basic training at FT.Leonard Wood in Missouri. The closet airport is in Springfield MO. Need I say more! What great trips those were. If your son has not used a baitcasting outfit, encourage him to practice with it in the back yard. Its way harder to learn when you are on the water.

Yeah, we go to the one in Foxboro.
It will be his first baitcaster. His older brother did not have to much trouble when learning the baitcaster, but I do plan on having him try in the back yard before on the water.
I had his older brother learn to use a baitcaster before he tried spinning gear. I think it is easier to go from a spincaster to a baitcaster. Than learning how to use a spinning reel and then going to a baitcaster. His older brother has more problems with the spinning reel than the baitcaster.

Went to Dick's (Keene, NH) yesterday. New tackle wasn't out yet, very few deals on left over stuff. But did get the last Lucky Craft Pointer 100SP in American Shad color for $12.99. Bonus. I made the sporting goods clerk scan the price before going up to the checkout and having it ring at $18. An infamous trait at Dick's.

Haven't had that happen to me. Had it the other way where it rang up cheaper. Organizing my tackle yesterday I found two Poe's cranks I forgot I had. They are not new (10 years old maybe) and yet I'm not sure they have ever been wet... Black back with chartreuse rest of bait. Anyone used these before? Any good?

I tried them but really was not sold on them. With all the talk about silent cranks nowadays why not try them and see what you think. Where I fish a rattle makes sense and so does a bait that is bouyant. Poe's wood baits of that era had no rattle and were not as bouyant as most plastic baits.

I have some Poe's RC crank-baits I bought over 20 years ago and still have them. Have not used them in years, but they used to be very effective. They need new hooks though, just a tad rusty. Sometimes throwing something different is just the trick.

As RG4 said those poe baits will swim different and are not as boyant as the plastic cranks on the market. Sometimes that is a good thing when the bass are seeing lots of KVD stuff swim past them. But...... If they are taking up too much space in your box send them my way I will be sure to get them wet

Just returned fro Dick's. Was there shopping for new boots.Yeah, thats what my wife said too. But anyway, they were putting out some new stuff. One new item was a 3XD Strike King crankbait. Supposed to run 10-12 ft. deep. The body size appeared to be the same as a Bandit but the bill was shorter than a 300 series. They looked interesting.
