, When I first got a look at the best walleye I've caught in... hmmm...., maybe forever, I was pretty psyched. It was getting dark out and in the water the 'eye looked huge. It had to be 25" long I thought. But I was wrong, only 23" . It hit my jigging blade in 19' and she stills swims today.

Hey VTBASS-Now we know what it takes to make B smile!
Nice fish there B, but even better picture! Nice job all around. I would love to get a Master Angler 'eye, they are there. May go a few more times. You can catch them down to 39 degrees on artificials, but beyond that its live bait.

These are not Master Angler walleye's either but what they will be according to my wife is a very good fish chowder tomorrow night. Should I get a few more tomorrow afternoon it will be chowder and fried walleye fillet for dinner . Had the fourth one on three times, but could not keep them on. All three 15-15.75" caught on 1/4 oz. blade bait or Husky Jerk in Tennesee Shad. Did not appear to be any bait around and fish had empty stomachs. Maybe that accounts for why the bite has been off.

I can't believe how good you guys are finding the walleye fishing over there! That's awesome! The walleye fishing is actually a bit off this fall, although I am pretty sure the population is stable. All age classes are present and its really a viable fishery. If you have some basic knowledge on how to fish them you will catch them. The fall in my opinion is the best time to fish. Spring lots of fish congregate prior to spawning, but you really need to weed through he small ones at that time off year and its a live bait bite. Personally, spring fishing does not appeal to me mostly because the bass are more fun that time off year and the fact that its spawning time makes me hesitant to catch them then. Summer they can be caught in good numbers trolling. I would use deep running stick baits or shad raps versus bottom bouncing or jigging. Too many panfish and other types will eat up your bait in a hurry. Nice to hear from you VTBASS!

I can't believe how good you guys are finding the walleye fishing over there! That's awesome! Mine was just luck. I had been catching smallies until the sun set. I didn't target walleye at all this fall because I was looking for perch . But the big perch, just as the big 'seeds, eluded me.
