When the wind finally let up a bit this afternoon I set out to fish for bass from an area that used to hold them real good this time of year, but could only could manage a pickerel. It was either stick it out and maybe catch nothing which makes me even madder than a foot of snow in October, or change the game. I'd been mad for the last 36 hours so I changed the game. Jumped in the truck and headed to an area that can hold walleye this time of year or really anytime especially if there is good current. This is not good current, its a bit too much; Being it seemed too early for 'eyes, I fished a jig for smallmouth to start. Not long after I got bit, thought cool no skunk on the bass today, but I was wrong. This walleye of about 19'' or so liked my jig. Changed to a Storm Wild Eye Swim Shad and got a few smaller ones. After dark changed to an X-Rap and got two more. Nice quiet evening for a change. Have been out about 5 or 6 times trying for a Master Angler Walleye and every night has been cold and windy. Tonight just cold!
