Just a quick note to say Hi. I'm XpressX21 from over at the brown boards. I live down here in PA where there are literally no places to fish. I'm a basser (and amateur Esox fan) that grew up fishing southeastern ontario with my dad, and Champlain reminds me a lot of that -- but better!
I used to fish tournaments in NJ BASS and then the federation when they split up. Now I just fish for fun. I've got a 5 y/o boy that already thinks he can whup me on the water. He's probably right!
I'll post what reports I can, when I get up, which is usually twice a year. I'm pretty detailed in my approach and I appreciate all the info y'all selflessly share. And if youre even in NJ or PA, I know most of the bass water down here. Just give me a shout!

Welcome aboard xpress.
If you have bass fishing reports from PA I would like to see them. I am sure bass fishing is bass fishing and tactics work most places. I don't have any plans to fish down that way but you never know when an opportunity may come along.

Welcome! Not trying to discourage you from coming by any means, but if time and travel are issues, Candlewood lake has some great fishing for both smallmouth and largemouth and should be about half the distance. Located in Danbury CT.
Try fishing it during the week as it has lots of pressure on weekends.

Welcome and I think you will like it over here. Still coming up later in the week? Rain supposed to finally let up but it looks to get cold again.

heh our BASS water here is small and packed. I read about that one lake in Japan that holds bass. One lake for a whole nation! That's what being near Philly is like. There are a few troll-only lakes that produce the occasional 6, but the lot fills by 5 on weekends. As a result, I'm pretty good at finesse fishing and "doin what the other guy aint". It translates well to clear cold water. But I'm out of my element pitchin a jig.
I fish the tidal waters a lot. Mainly because they get less pressure and a lot of guys won't risk their boats. The Big D(elaware) holds a surprising amount of stupid bass. You can regularly get 4+ lbrs too. Just watch the barge traffic and the tugs, especially in the narrows. Yee ha, it can get hairy.
Yea Brian, I PM'd you. I'm coming up, come hell or high(er) water. Cold, sluggish fish dont scare me. They gotta eat sometime. I just hope the Biscuit is open when I get in thurs night!

Hmmm, if you like tidal waters the Hudson offers some great LM and SM action normally. Of course, this year isn't normal with flooding from the Mohawk river and other rivers. Water is the color of coffee with to much milk (OK, any milk or sugar in coffee is to much) but you get my drift. Nothing like a river smallie to put up a big fight.
Hope to see you up there, heading up Thursday too. Sent a PM too.

Welcome xpress. I fished a lot down in your neck of the woods, mostly south Jersey. I grew up down there and joined BASS back in "71" in a club out of Levittown, PA. I know most of the small lakes are trolling motor or 6HP or less. My favorite was Union lake south of Vineland. We used to have tourneys in the Salem Canal and a number of small cedar water lakes in the southern part of the state. Big water like Hopatcong were rare because back then we all had john boats mostly. If you make it up this way give me a shout. I'm retired and can go any time.
