Mike and I met at the Hathaway Point launch and were underway around 10:00. Air temps comfortable and wind not too bad. Water temps still on the high side at around 55. The first place we hit was where Ron and I pulled 21 keepers just two weeks ago. You guessed it. Neither of us could draw a bite. The wind was out of the South so we decided to drift North along shores with rocky bottoms. Keeping the boat in 5-6' so you could cast shallower to the right and deeper to the left. The gave us a fishing depth from 3-7' most of the time. We caught 20 fish between us. The largest being two 3 lbers and 1 4 lber. All smallies. All on plastics. About 3:30 the wind really started to kick(that was the day the canoes capsized) and we decided to call it a day. Not exactly Fall fishing, but a good day on the water. Probably put the boat away after Thanksgiving as I usually get some days in Nov. that are fishable. Must get South (I don't mean Champlain) this Winter and do a little bass fishing. Sounds like a good day Bob. I am thinking a southern vacation sometime this winter would be nice! My brother-in-law has a row boat on a Florida fresh water canal that has helped my winter blues in the past. But it is too early to be thinking about winter blues. Even if it is snowing this morning.
