Fished malletts bay in the kayak again from about 4:00pm until about 5:45pm. Nice to fish in the daylight again. I got one small large-mouth bass when I first got there on my big gold spinner-bait...didn't bother to take a pic as it was pretty small. Went to the left and fish the flat and weeds then hit the docks all pretty quickly because I was trying to figure out where they were. None of that panned out so I headed to a spot on the big rock wall that usually holds fish for me but struck out there too. Turned back to where that last sun of the day was going to be hitting the water and nailed this pike in the low 20" range. A couple casts later I nailed this fat bass. Both fish hit the spinner-bait like freight trains and fought pretty well. Still hunting for those master angler fish but they are more elusive than I was expecting.

Sounds like a nice couple of hours of fishing. The days are getting shorter for those afternoon outings. Thanks for the report.

vtbass I have a love hate relationship with my kayak right now. It's been killing me all year that I haven't be able to get my boat up here because I know some great spots I can't get to in my kayak...that said this year fishing from shore and from my kayak I've learned a lot of new spots and gotten into some good fish. One thing that is really nice is that my kayak cost me a grand total of $0.00 to run this entire season. When I'm running my bassboat it cost me at every step it seems. Batteries, trolling motors, gas, oil, registrations...it really does add up. But if my boat was here I could get my kids on a bunch more fish this time of year and that would mean a lot to me. I'm going to try to hit malletts monday before work (because the time change will give me a little more light). I hope I'll be posting some pics from that trip.
