Has anyone here fished Lake Townshend? I can't find it listed at all in the VT Master Angler's search page. I did find an article online in VT Digger from 2017 about the Core of Engineers dredging it because the silting had been so bad. Yet other places online talk about brown trout and smallmouth. Just curious.....

Personally i have not fished there but I have heard from others that where the West enters the impoundment you can catch perch, bass and trout. Fallfish too I’d suppose being they are present above and below the dam.
For bass I’d expect smallies but being bucket biologists are everywhere there may be some largies.
Trout would probably be rainbows but browns may still be in the river though it seems stocking has switched to bows. Too bad because the browns seemed to holdover better in the West.

Thanks Roy.
Well, I'll try it, just out of curiosity. I'll post back what I find.

I did try it for a few hours on a mostly overcast day, soon after I posted the above in July, but was chased out finally by thunderstorms building. I went up to the series of bars and islands where the West river joins. But I didn't get a single bite. Saw no activity. Not saying fish aren't there, just maybe it was too late in the morning, or I wasn't fishing right. I also checked out further down closer to the dam, but there were extensive silt shallows that didn't seem promising. Inconclusive, really. Maybe I'll try it again some time.
