I've spent the majority of July and August visiting my fiance's family lyndonville. I like getting away to the less crowded kingdom on their family farm playing disc golf, extreme boccee, and helping out the family with projects.
A bonus to making the almost 2 hr drive to the kingdom is it allowed for new fishing adventures. I could fish a pond with big bass close to our place early in the am with out getting up at 2am!
By August I was figuring out cool offshore fishing spots finding big fish using my side scan putting around eating enjoying views of mountains, moose and loons.
It took an unusually long time to get my VT 5lber this year. But I grabbed a 5-1 on a rage bug texas rigged on super secret off shore structure. Felt wonderful. And after catching smallies and largies alike the new end of summer pattern led to.... brandon needing a new pattern. Fishing 6 to 1130 on a different more well-known to me pond I was about to give up due to fishing all the next day. Only one small smallie to my name. Trying new things. Fished all my hot spots twice except one more quick stop of a few casts before i got into trouble. Jig casted. Jig swam away like me seeing new bbq restaurant. Caught up to it. Got the net. Said a prayer outlook to the fish gods and scooped up my first 6.00lb largie in the state of VT. My previous pb in vt was 5-14 southern champlain on a frog. Only 2 ounces bigger, but they feel like much more than that! Kinda shows you staying level minded, optimistic, have fun just fishing and being outside, one cast, if even for the 5th time you hit that spot, can be worth it.
And now this weekends forecast I see upper 20s for lows in the kingdom and cold elsewhere. Let fall catching begin.
