My season just isn't progressing so this will be short and not to sweet. Fished Friday all day to catch one 3.8 large mouth and missed a couple. Did catch a nice size catfish that found itself in the live well. Hit like a ton of bricks. Saturday my wife was coming up so I had to get camp ready and after Friday, wasn't biting the bit to get back out. She released me late Sunday morning and I hit water at noon and fished until 6 in a little two boat tournament with Jim W. and a couple younger guys. Old vs. new, new won. I managed four small LM and Jim one. The youngens slapped us around pretty good with over 14 lbs. Monday didn't get out until about 7:30. Did manage 5 for only the 2nd or 3rd time in May with the biggest running all of 3 lbs. Did have another catfish hammer a large swim bait and it too hit the live well. At least i'm eating...... BTW the catfish meat was nice and clean. No grubs and good color. Tasty but a little stronger then catfish you get in restaurateurs so my wife didn't care for it though I thought is was great. I wonder if there is a method of taking some of the fishiness out of taste.
Wind was howling Friday (N), Monday (S) and Sunday it pretty strong with some big gusts. Water is warming up fast and should warm a lot more this week. Mostly clear to very to clear and dropped around another foot since last week. It's been a strange year as Roy mentioned.

All you can do when your in a slump is keep your head together and fish your strengths. One other thing that has worked for me is go to a place that's easy to fish and easy to catch. Sometimes you just need to convince yourself you can still catch fish. Everybody goes thru these times Brian.
I have heard of people soaking cats overnight in milk. Supposed to draw out the fishy taste. I thought it was stronger than farm raised too when I kept one last year. Maybe some good Cajun spicing would work well?
You will probably have a great summer fishing! The fish gods seem to believe in averaging😉

Some Pete's hot sauce did work pretty good with the fish. I liked it fine, wife just found it to strong.

I hear the pike are biting............ Cut as much fat off the skinless fillets, soak in milk. Will help but still probably won't match a farm raised model. Funny because trout are just about the opposite, hatchery vs. wild fish.

Everyone has different tastes so though I like wild trout or salmon better than farm or hatchery raised it would not surprise me that you prefer the opposite. That being said the fish that VT is raising these days are exceptional for eating compared to years past. I've been told their on a new food and reared a differently than in the past. Trout I've eaten have been firm and tasty!

My season just isn't progressing ... Mine neither. Been just about as bad a season I can remember. For the number of trips I've done, I've caught squat.
