Last weekend gave us some of the nastiest weather ever. Saturday snow and wind, big wind, and wicked cold. Pipes were frozen at my camper Saturday morning. And yet the lake was in good shape Sunday and the bass still bit! I’m always impressed with how adaptable bass are to cold. Seems to me they bite better than any other warm water fish when the water is cold. Am I right ? I fish for anything and it seems when it’s too cold for other species all you can catch are bass and for me that means largemouth. Sunday started off with some big bites but was slow after that while I tried to make some old hot spots work. Once I gave up on that and fished more recently productive and protected spots the fishing got good, sort of😏 A school of drum were on a rocky point where I chose to start. Got this one on a finesse jig on 8# line. Wind was strong all day from the WNW. East side was almost un fishable though I did get some on a squarebill. West side was fine😎. All the typical stuff worked just not quite as good post front. Didn’t have to fish slow to get bit but I chose to fish a jig a lot. Never landed any big ones but I had my chances. Somedays those hooks just don’t stick. All in all a good day especially considering the recent cold and snow. Lake gin clear in spots but cold at 51-54. Up for some fishing today after another cold night. If it is as good as last week that’s fine with me.

Man I should of fished today and ignored weather man. What a nice day and now it's down right balmy. Shorts on, enjoying the porch, and a Tom Collins in reach after working all morning. Could be worse I guess. Back at it tomorrow after storms roll through.

Yeah, and Saturday was a $@*^ show. Crazy wind and a lot of folks out. There are only so many places to hid from the wind and everyone was in them. Was a rough day.
