Got out all three days of the LCI this weekend and I have to say that I am really pleased with what transpired. Saturday we got out early and knew that the wind would be a factor...Out of Georgia shore we ran to some local spots and I could tell immediately that the spot lock on the Minn kota Terrova was working on overtime to keep us on an area in open water...time to hit the shorelines for largemouth and that is what we did...Landing several 2 pounders on vertical baits. stayed on that pattern and also pulled out the squarebill and started getting good bites, fish would hit and stop the lure dead in its tracks...caught 30 in 4 hours, but nothing huge. Worked to burton island and ball with a few hits. Worked to Lapans as well, but it was crowded in there and there was a ton of chop, so back to calmer waters...ended up with 35 the first day...Second Day produced same numbers but better fish...working shore acres after a quick battery change and fuel up at Ladds Marina...Worked Woods and landed some 3+LB smallies...back to the bay and hooked some bronzebacks on the bottom that were also 3+...3rd day same quality but slightly less numbers...We worked over back to burton, woods and Lapans with some nice 2 and 3 pounders all off the bottom. Nothing cracking the top ten, but numbers and quality 2-3 pounders that hit hard and fight fierce. The kiddos came out the third day and I worked with them both on finesse techniques...They love to drive the boat and the smiles on their faces is something i'll never forget...Happy Fathers day to all the Dads...Man, I love Champlain.
