Hit southern Champ for the first time this year. Water temps were 43-48 and was pretty clear.
Started with all my normal cold water stuff, (jerk baits, rattle traps, jigs, swim baits), but nothing worked. Switched to very small square bill and we started catching.
Ended up with a good bunch of LM, pike, pickerel and a Trench, (wasnt really sure what the Trench was until I googled it??).
Bass were all 2.5-3.5 and one of the pike was over 10.
All caught in 5-6 feet
Good to be out

Starting on 4/14 is not too bad. I don’t think I’ll get there until 4/27. Not good😢 Good job. Fished the CTR Sunday. Saw some nice fish but couldn’t get many to bite. Water temps were good, up to 50. Hard to understand why the bite was tough.

Great that you got out and thanks for posting...Going to launch the boat when we get back from Florida 1 May...Been doing some bank fishing when I can in some of the local rivers with no luck whatsoever...

I'm headed up to test the waters at the northern end of the lake around the 1st weekend in May to try my hand at some early spring smallmouth fishing ( weather permitting)! Can't wait!

Should be prime time up north early May. Done south too for that matter.

A few more days of rain isn’t going to help the situation. Just fair warning, my brother is coming for his annual trip from May 5. Expect the lake to either a) freeze over completely again this week or b) blow the TS Irene lake level away by several feet from flooding.

Trump needs to close the Canadian border not the Mexican border!😆 Seriously hope it works out for you guys. You deserve a break. Got a feeling the drum will be ready.

I'll be down in the Ti area May 8-10. Hoping the lake is less chocolatey then. Or I'll have to stay up north. Couldn't get much worse this past Thursday. Did some debris dodging as well. Coldest water was clean as can be la chute at 46/47 to Main lake 50-52. Back waters 53.5. Not great fishing. 6 bass total 630 to 3.

I got a picture today, Jim got a 4 3/4 and 3 early after noon. Water color yesterday wasn't horrible. Water temp 52. It rained all day Friday, rained like hell all night Friday until 8am Saturday when it finally cleared up so we could get some work done. Roads/yards a mess but started to dry during the day Saturday. Hope to have my boat trailer repaired 5/17 which was as early as I could get in. Maybe Jim will take me out before then. They are calling for showers off on all this week up there so might not be able to get boat up to camp until then anyway.

Just got back from a drive along Otter Creek in Leicester. By what we saw I’d expect Champlain to keep rising even if we get no rain. Creek is full and flood plain has more water in it than I have ever seen.
