Hello my friends,
This past weekend was the LCI and I wanted to share a few items with you guys. First off, Saturday's conditions were not all that bad. Boat in the water by 0500 and 10 fish into the boat before 0600 on Jerkbaits and flukes. All SMB and they were very healthy, but nothing over 17 inches. We headed to deeper water and caught a few off from rock piles with deep diving crankbaits...The 300 DD from sixth sense worked excellent and the trusty ol' Ball and Chain...but nothing still tipping the scales. Then we decided to work around islands and calmer water and I hook into this baby
5.43 pounds and 20.75 inches...my personal best LMB on Champlain.
We caught some smallmouth that were spitting us these little guys...
We ended the day at 8 pm and with 35 in the boat. It did not come without some obstacles. I stuck a treble into my left ring finger far enough that I had to work it through the other side to cut the barb...The bilge pump quit at about 5 pm, so that kept us on our toes...
A trip to Ace hardware in Colchester the next morning, (thank god they opened at 7am) and we are on the water by 10. with 15 mph winds and 4 footers...staying on structure was a bit tricky but we were able to find bites with a tube jig and C-rig. All bites on Sunday were off the bottom and we managed 15 (nothing huge), but earned everyone of them in the chop...
The LMB landed me 5th in that category, so i'll attend the banquet this Friday night. Anyone else planning on going?
I hope everyone else's season is going well and it's great to share a little of my weekend with you guys
