Was out in Keeler Bay slaying smallies in 12-15 feet water trolling crankbaits (heavy on the red -- I was actually pike fishing for the first time this year but then decided to catch smallies instead) and then tossing senkos (got to love the sinking slam you get on those) in the middle of the day last Sunday.. blazin sunshine.... The launch here really.. i mean.. really... stinks. Beach sand.. super shallow.. dock non-existent (well there is one.. but you really cant call it one nor use it).... ;D

I love it when the smallies help change your mind to fishing for them!
I have used that launch once and I agree it is not great to say the least.

Glad you had luck up north. The front that blew in at the end of last week and lowered the temps and got rid of the humidity (thank God) seemed to also such the fish off - at least down here in murky southern Champlain. Trolling cranks for smallies! I haven't down that since I was a teenager with my Grandpa. I should try it again. Those senkos, I just can't bring myself to fish them.

Thanks for sharing your day. How is the ramp at Grand Isle State Park? I haven't been there in years. But it may be worth the day use fee to use the ramp.
