This is my first post in a while. I have been fishing and catching a lot of bass, but the size just has not been there and I don't want to bore people.
I took a 2-day trip to the North part of the Lake this week in the 90+ degree heat. Specifically, the Inland Sea and a little bit in the Alburg Passage. Wed I met rvq(Bob) at the St. Albans Bay launch at 9:30. We started at this reef that I marked last year. We pulled some SM at the reef, Bob with a wacky Senko and me with a Carolina Rig. We then ran to the Alburg Passage to a spot which I consider a good SM area. We caught a few small SM there and Bob said that the area sucked. We then fished the NE side of the Inland Sea, and the SM started to bite very well. I don't know how many fish we caught. Bob caught a 3.75 SM that we both thought was way over 4 and maybe 5. Off the water at 5:30.
Please skip this part if you only care about fishing and not personal interest stories. I tried to find some of the IPA beer that I like in Swanton. Nobody had what I like. I finally went to the State Liquor store Discount Beverage place in Swanton. I saw that they had Corona Extra beer and said, cool, it is very hot and this will be refreshing. However, when I started putting the beer on ice and go back to the hotel I noticed that the beer was not Corona, but it was Bud in a Corona-labeled six-pack. So I went back inside and explained to the lady that the beer was not Corona. She said that it took her a while to get used to that. I said get used to what? She explained that they routinely put beer in different six packs than what the beer is. Fortunately, they had a six pack of Corona in a Mike's hard lemonade container.
Back to fishing on Thursday I launched at St Albans Bay a little after 7AM. I fished a long day-until 6PM. During the day I drank a gallon of water and only peed once. Staying hydrated was extremely important and I felt great the whole time. I started at the reef where Bob and I started the previously. A few decent SM on a wacky-Senko. Then I fished the NE part of the Inland Sea the rest of the day. I found fish in 6-10 feet. Most of my fish were on a wacky Senko, but in the afternoon I started to have a nice top-water bite with a Pop-R. I caught a 3.1# SM on the Senko. with the Pop-R I got bit with a good SM that I was sure was 4+. It ate the Pop-R. When I weighed the fish it was just a little over 3#, but about 20" long and with good girth. I caught almost 50 bass Thurs, all but 2 were SM. Although, I only had 2 fish over 3#, my bag was close to 15# because there there were many that were just under 3#.
No pics because these fish need to get back in the water ASAP. Water temp maxed at 84.
By the way, if you need lodging I can make a couple of recommendations. I have no financial interest in these places. The people at the Swanton Motel and the Circle Court Motel in Ticonderoga are a pleasure to do business with.
