Check out www.strikezonetournamentbaits.comI got hooked on the Slammer at Lake Simcoe in ONT. It worked really well up there and it works really well here on Champlain. We caught a lot of nice smallies on them last year. You know how that new to the market bait works really well because fish haven't seen them much. They have just about any color you would ever want. This year I have been using them on drop shot in the weeds around the TI area. Most popular baits down there is jigs, tubes and senko's. Try these on a full braid drop shot. I use 10 pound power pro with a 1/4 weight and a 1/0 drop shot hook.

I drop shot the edges in 9-11 ft. But I also flip the drop shot in the holes in the thick grass in 7-8 ft. Some days the fish suspend a few feet off the bottom. The bass most see baits fall straight to the bottom. The drop shot bait will stay up off the bottom where the fish are holding. These slammers also can look like alewives.

Do you TX rig the hook when using the drop shot in grass? I've thought of it before but like VTbass just never do it, not in or around grass.
9' to 11' is pretty much off the weed edge around Ti. Do you cast and drag, or just pitch and shake?

No. With the 10 pound fireline you can rip the rod and the weeds will usually fall off. In the spring when the grass is more scattered and not grown up off the bottom I will cast the drop shot. Now with the weeds being up more I tend to pitch it more. I also switch to a size 1 hook instead of the 1/0. These slammers have a real nice round nose so it will go through the grass pretty good. Erin caught this 5.94 on a dropshot with the slammer Saturday in the Inland Sea. 12' deep. We weighed it for the all season. The slammer also helped us win the CCB open on Sunday. We had 6 smallmouth that weighed 25.02. These baits work very well!! Attachments:

How much weight do you typically use when drop shotting 10' to 12' ?

Depends on the wind and thickness of the grass. Usually 1/4 for under 18 ft. 3/8 for anything deeper.

I'm with Shawn and Brian. I bought all the gear to drop shot this spring and have yet to make one cast. I know folks that swear by it. It's Dr. Schnides favorite method Brian
