Has anyone tried Nanofil on a spinnig outfit? It sounds promising. But $20 for 150 yds.

I use the Fireline Crystal on spinning reels. Hold up from tangling for quite awhile. The $20 for Nano kind of put me off as well.

I use it on one of my rods and have been very happy with it. not sure it's much different then a braid though.

Hi Brian: I used Nanofil on my wacky rig rod for all of last year, really liked it and plan to use it again this year. Casts like a rocket. Needs to have a leader though, the line is so thin and light that it is good to have the leader to add some bulk for better knots, quicker sink and better windy day casting. I use 6# nano with 6# flouro leader, about 4'-6'. It is hard to attach those two thin lines, I used the Crazy Alberto knot and it worked great: strong and goes through the guides well. Google it and you'll have all kinds of instructional material on how to tie it.
Now, all we have to do is wait for July when the ice goes out?

What brand leader do you use? I use fire line crystal 12# for my spinning rod for that too. I hadn't been using a leader though. Still was successful, but maybe not as much as I could have been perhaps?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I bought a spool of 10lb. Nanofil at Dick's this week. It appeared to be in the closeout section, was $17.97, and came with a substantial rebate offer (buy two Berkley items spend $20 get $7 rebate). I spooled it on a small spinning reel on a medium action 6'6" fast acton rod and will give it a shot with small crankbaits, small swimbaits and tubes.

Brian, if you should decide to put a fluorocarbon leader on this line, I'd highly recommend using a small swivel to connect the two lines. Last year I used 6 lb nanofil w/ a 6 lb test fluoro leader and had problems with line breaks. Went away when I went to the swivel.
