March 5th and no ice on the outer setbacks in Hinsdale? Guys were fishing there last weekend. I knew it would go early but geez that was fast!

I'd have to launch several miles upstream and ride down. Would have done it when I was 30 but now that I'm 60 maybe I'm smarter or just not as adventurous. Boat is in the shop anyway getting prepped for the new season. Putting ice fishing stuff away today😢. Worried I will be stuck between seasons for some time being the weather has been so unpredictable . Hope to see you soon Brian!

Still plenty of ice up north. Over a foot in the islands. Took the fiance out for a little pan fishing.
I wouldn't be lying if I said I'm all done mentally and emotionally ice fishing. Headed up to moosehead lake end of the month for some brook trout. But maybe I'll be on the new boat before that!

I would think small ponds like Monkton will be ice free very soon. I checked the other setbacks here Saturday and each of them had rotten ice. Hunts Meadows should be ice free this week. The Retreat Meadows will be a few weeks.

I dont want it too early! My title hasn't arrived for the boat yet. The guy I bought it from his wife "accidentally ripped " thinking it was junk mail. AH! So waiting for a second one to come. Time to still learn the super fg knot And clean some reels.

Was up to the lake to check on things and to get some VT beers for next weekends annual St. Patrick's Day weekend. Only edges ice free right now but it's supposed to stay warm all week. If a little bit more opens and the wind starts moving water you may see south lake open before long if it stays warm. My yard not bad but road to Jim and my camp is way to wet for vehicles much less boat trailers. It will be awhile for me. Busy traveling the next month anyway so looking at mid April or later no matter what.
