Whats the difference between a black zebra with white stripes and white zebra with black stripes? what's the official name of a hybrid pike-pickerel.. or is just that full name? Got this one on monday on a very windy day on a white double willow leave spinner bait. I regret not measuring and weighing it, But it was quite a healthy fish and biggest hybrid of only a couple I've ever had caught.

Looking at the others posted on that site, definitely should have taken a length. Crushed my spinnerbait and fought hard, left the day very happy.

Again Brandon, awesome fish. Discussed hybrids with Shawn quite a bit this year. He referred to them as as hybrid pike, which seems fitting as they resemble a pike more than a pickerel but as you probably saw they are listed in the Master Angler program as a pike-pickerel hybrid. We also discussed how the hybridization occurs. Most likely scenario would be eggs from a female northern fertilized by a male chain pickerel. If you have seen pike spawn you have seen several males surrounding a female. It's probably not as likely several male pike would spawn with a female pickerel, but who knows or who cares! End result is an awesome specimen!

Nice hybrid! The only name I have seen in print is "tiger pike". I like the name rather than just pike/pickerel hybrid!! Dick
